The EC initiative on enhancing the capacity of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), the implementation of the Network and Information Security Directive, development of capacities through development centers in the Member States and creation of a pilot fund to overcome the consequences of cyber crises will be among the issues on which Bulgaria will seek a common approach within the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU as from 1 January 2018. This was stated by the Chairperson of the State e-Government Agency (S.E.G.A.) Rossen Jeliazkov, who opened the fourth regional forum on cybersecurity and cybercrime for the Southeast Europe countries.
Rossen Jeliazkov highlighted the prevention and enforcement as both main approaches for achieving consumer confidence in a virtual environment. "When we talk about prevention, we need to think about cyber hygiene, and when we talk about enforcement – to remember that society's trust builds on the effectiveness of the response to criminal and other attacks on vulnerable systems that may be compromised. Therefore we need to rely on a strong interaction and a standardized approach to cybersecurity risks”, the Chairperson of S.E.G.A. commented.
"The boundaries of states do not matter. Common approaches and the achievement of trust are important, which is a basic prerequisite for the development of public relations”, Rossen Jeliazkov stressed before the participants in the forum, organized by the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime in the Ministry of Interior and IDC Bulgaria. The two-day conference brings together over 300 cyber security experts from the public sector, businesses, representatives of leading companies and international organizations.
