More than 150 European Information Security experts arrive in Bulgaria for the international conference "Cyber Security Challenges"

The Forum is jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the State eGovernment Agency for as part of the official program of the first Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

On March 26 (Monday) from 09:00 to 18:30 in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture an international conference "Cybersecurity Challeges Conference” will take place. More than 150 delegates from Europe and the United States, the government sector, the European institutions, business representatives, academics and non-governmental organizations participate in the event. Guests at the official opening of the conference are the  Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Maria Garbiel and Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev. Among the panelists are the Director of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) Udo Helbrecht, the Secretary General of the European Cyber Security Organization Luigi Rebufi, Jean-Jacques Sahel, Vice President of Internet Corporation for Internet Names and Addresses (ICANN) representatives of NATO, Europol, and others.
Internet users reached 51% of the world's population in 2017, and Internet-related devices - 8.4 billion worldwide. At these growth rates, cybercrime is likely to become the biggest threat in the world that can cause serious economic damages - with different estimates of over $ 6 trillion over the next two years alone.
The ambitious cyber security package presented by the Commission on 13 September 2017 was followed by a number of Council conclusions and an Action Plan for their implementation. They all underline the need to strengthen EU's capacity to deter and respond to cyber attacks. In this regard, the exchange of good practices, investment in cyber security training, awareness-raising and the upbringing of regular cyber-hygiene habits are encouraged.
The themes in the four discussion panels of the Cyber Security Challenge Conference highlight the application of cyber security and cyber-resilience policies as a strategic priority; the enhanced and coordinating role of a renewed European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) to establish and maintain a coordination mechanism for collective response to cyber threats; resources and competencies of the Member States and the application of the cyber diplomacy guidelines.
The National Campaign of the State Agency for Electronic Government for Cyber Hygiene will be presented at the forum, under the patronage of Commissioner Maria Gabriel, which is supported by the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of the Bulgarian the Presidency of the Council of the EU, the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the Digital National Alliance and Viber Media S.r.l. Experts from the State eGovernment Agency will present for the first time the jointly developed  platform (chat) with Viber experts  and a sticker package, specially adapted for the  purposes of the campaign.
